ALL ABOUT MY KHAYELITSHA IN CAPE TOWN

My community is situated in Cape Town know as the mother city. It is so big and full of people every day and night, lots of crime and rape. There is illegal electric power every where and there are many shacks. Children are the ones that are mostly victims in these crimes. Children’s rights are violated and the same applies to women. In my community the most valuable that almost every one loves and admires is soccer.
The streets are not properly made, people are polluting the environment because the government is not doing enough about the conditions that people are facing. The thing that I noticed is that people have no love for each other. People are judging each other about the way they dress, the condition that one is facing, like poverty. Poverty has become the main problem that the people are facing .The rich and poor are divided. There also is a say that says: the rich become richer and the poor become poorer. Poor people are not treated the same as the rich, poor people’s opinions are not taken seriously and their voices are not being heard because they are nothing.
Another thing is the houses that we live in, they are not proper. We don’t have proper toilets, even proper electrical power. Children are dying each and every day; they are killed by the illegal electric power. There are lots of people who connect their appliance using illegal connection. But in all of this the government is sitting back doing nothing.
Another thing is the crime; crime has become the top news all over South Africa. And the poverty is the cause of all of this. Children in my community are taking the easy way out. They start with smoking, then using drugs and then starting stealing small amounts of money and they end up as criminals. Some of these children come from a poor back ground. These young teenagers have no parents. Some are just doing it just because their friends are doing it, others because they want to help out at their homes.
The tip for you all out there: stay out of trouble and never involve in any kind of crime, don’t ever use drugs because they are bad for you. No matter how the situation you are in, just pray and hope for the better future for your selves. Love you all out there.

This is a story out of the trenches of Poverty. Our country is riddled with the consequences of poverty, this story reflects on the realities.
You mentioning about kids getting killed by illegal electricity, I never realized that – it’s terrible!
We should pray for this to get better definitely! But you also need to work really hard at school and find small ways by which the community can be made a better place. Please share these things that can be done to the world using this blog.
Keep on sharing your everyday realities with the world. And YES stay away from drugs and crime – both are short term fixes with dire consequences.
keep it up!

It is a very sad. I feel and and understand exactly what you are going through because I once ate from the dirt bin. I once slept outside on the grass with nio hope at all. But this is really not the end of the world. Atleast u have bread on your table.
You can turn your life around. Just hang in there. there is light at the end of the tunnel. think of all south Africans who go to sleep with empty stomachs. think of Children in East london leaving and eating in a dump with dogs and no hope at all. Atleast you still have a roof over your head.
Appreciate the little things that God gave you. Count your blessings everyday. Think of Children in Zimbabwe, Bosnia somali. You are not the only one. Stand firm and be counted. Raise your hand and be counted. Dou u knoe the Poem from Tupac Shakur. ‘ the rose that grows from the cocrete. u need to be that rose.
Remain positive at all times. your small contribution to uplift your community will definitely be noticed one day- so do your bit and leave the rest to the God Almighty.
